Grow a Garden Complete Mutations Guide 2026 — Every Mutation, Multiplier, and How to Get Them
Last Updated: April 20th, 2026
If you have spent any time in Grow a Garden, you already know that mutations are what separate a 500 Sheckle harvest from a 500 billion Sheckle one. But understanding mutations beyond “Rainbow is good” and “Shocked is rare” is where most players stop — and that is exactly where the gap between average farmers and genuinely wealthy players begins.
This guide covers every mutation currently in Grow a Garden. Not just the multipliers — but how each one actually works, how to get it reliably, which ones stack together, which ones replace each other, and how to use all of that knowledge to make better decisions in the game every single day.
I have been playing Grow a Garden for three years. I have watched the mutation system grow from a handful of basic weather effects to the complex, layered system it is today. Everything in this guide comes from that playing experience and community testing — not from guessing or copying a wiki table.
What Mutations Actually Are — And Why They Matter More Than Anything Else
A mutation in Grow a Garden is a modifier applied to a fruit that multiplies its base Sheckle value. Mutations are not additive — they are multiplicative. This is the single most important concept in the entire game, and it is the one that most new players get wrong.
What additive would mean: Rainbow (50x) + Shocked (100x) = 150x total multiplier
What multiplicative actually means: Rainbow (50x) × Shocked (100x) = 5,000x total multiplier
That is the difference between a crop worth 50,000 Sheckles and one worth 500 million Sheckles — from the same base plant at the same weight, just by understanding how the math actually works.
The formula the game uses is:
Final Value = Base Value × Weight × Mutation Multipliers × Friend Boost
Every mutation you stack multiplies everything before it. This is why chasing high-multiplier combined mutations during admin events is so important. It is also why using the Grow a Garden Calculator before every trade matters — the numbers get large enough fast enough that mental math simply does not work.
The Three Categories of Mutations
Before the full list, understanding how mutations are categorised helps you make better decisions about which ones to pursue and how to stack them.
Crop Variant Mutations (Fruit Tier Mutations)
These are the Gold, Rainbow, and Silver mutations. They are mutually exclusive — only one can apply to a crop at a time. You cannot have Gold and Rainbow on the same fruit. The game only allows one fruit tier mutation per crop.
Environmental Mutations
These come from weather events, admin events, pet abilities, sprays, and sprinklers. Most environmental mutations stack freely with each other and with crop variant mutations. This is the largest category and where most of the interesting stacking combinations come from.
Combined (Fused) Mutations
These are mutations that only appear when two specific mutations are already present on the same crop. You cannot apply a combined mutation directly — the game creates it automatically when the required pair is present. Combined mutations have some of the highest multipliers in the game and replace the two mutations that created them.
Crop Variant Mutations — The Fruit Tier
These three mutations are the foundation of crop value. One can apply per crop, and they set the base multiplier before environmental mutations stack on top.
Silver — 5x How to get: Grows naturally when a fruit develops, or through fertilizer. The most common variant mutation. On a high-base-value crop at good weight, Silver is a meaningful starting point — but it is the floor, not the ceiling.
Gold — 20x How to get: Grows naturally when a fruit develops, through the Dragonfly pet ability (every 4.5 minutes), or through fertilizer. The Dragonfly is the most reliable way to get consistent Gold mutations without waiting for RNG. A full garden of Gold-mutated Candy Blossom during an AFK session with a Dragonfly active produces significant passive income.
Rainbow — 50x How to get: Grows naturally when a fruit develops, through the Butterfly pet ability, or through fertilizer. Rainbow is mutually exclusive with Gold — the calculator automatically blocks selecting both. Rainbow at 50x combined with a high environmental mutation stack is where crop values start reaching the hundreds of millions.
Weather Mutations — Natural Environmental Events
These mutations apply to crops that are actively growing when the weather event occurs. A fully grown, ripe crop waiting to be harvested cannot pick up a new weather mutation — the fruit must be in the growing phase.
Wet — 2x How to get: Rain weather, mutation spray, or certain pet abilities. Notes: Wet is the most common environmental mutation and one of the most important — not because of its 2x multiplier, but because it is the ingredient for creating Frozen. A Wet + Chilled crop automatically becomes Frozen (10x). Never underestimate Wet as a foundation mutation.
Chilled — 2x How to get: Snow weather, Flower Froster Sprinkler, or sprays. Notes: Like Wet, Chilled’s value is partly in what it enables. Wet + Chilled = Frozen (10x). On its own it is modest, but as part of a combined mutation path it becomes much more interesting.
Frozen — 10x How to get: A crop that already has both Wet and Chilled mutations automatically becomes Frozen. Notes: This is a combined mutation created by the interaction of Wet and Chilled. Important rule: Frozen removes both the Wet and Chilled mutations when it forms — you cannot have Wet + Chilled + Frozen on the same crop simultaneously. Frozen at 10x is a solid environmental multiplier that stacks well with crop variant mutations.
Chocolate (Choc) — 2x How to get: Chocolate Sprinkler, mutation spray, or admin weather. Notes: One of the most accessible environmental mutations through the Chocolate Sprinkler. Because it applies passively to all crops in the sprinkler’s range, it is one of the best “always on” mutations for consistent harvest value. Stacks cleanly with most other mutations.
Shocked — 100x How to get: Thunder weather event, Lightning Rod gear, or the Jandel admin event. Notes: The highest multiplier available through natural weather. 100x is the reason experienced players watch the weather constantly and never harvest during a thunderstorm. A crop that is ripe and waiting to be collected cannot receive Shocked — if a thunderstorm hits and your crops are already fully grown, you missed the window. Keep multi-harvest crops in the ground continuously so there are always crops in the growing phase when Shocked weather hits. The Lightning Rod lets you trigger this on demand.
Moonlit — 2x How to get: Night Event weather, Night Staff gear. Notes: Modest multiplier on its own but useful as a stacking layer. Night Events occur regularly and are easy to catch passively during AFK sessions. The Night Staff lets you trigger Moonlit on demand for targeted stacking.
Bloodlit — 4x How to get: Blood Moon event. Notes: Blood Moon is one of the more frequent special weather events. At 4x it is a meaningful multiplier that stacks with everything. During AFK sessions, catching a Blood Moon is a reliable value boost across the garden.
Sundried — 85x How to get: Heat Wave weather event. Notes: One of the highest natural weather multipliers in the game at 85x. Heat Wave events are less common than rain or thunderstorm but when they hit during a garden full of high-base-value crops, Sundried produces extraordinary value. Many players overlook Sundried because it is less talked about than Shocked — this is a mistake.
Aurora — 90x How to get: Aurora Borealis weather event. Notes: Aurora at 90x is close to Shocked in value and combines with Celestial to create Cosmic (240x). If Aurora Borealis is active on your server, do not harvest anything — wait to see if a Meteor Shower (from the Star Caller or natural) triggers simultaneously, which creates the Cosmic combined mutation.
Drenched — 5x How to get: Tropical Rain weather. Notes: Tropical Rain applies Drenched rather than Wet, so it does not trigger the Wet + Chilled = Frozen pathway. Drenched stacks freely with most other mutations.
Windstruck — 2x How to get: Gale or Windy event weather, Pterodactyl pet, mutation spray.
Twisted — 5x How to get: Tornado event, Pterodactyl pet. Notes: Windstruck + Twisted creates Tempestuous (12x). If both Windstruck and Twisted apply to the same crop, the game automatically fuses them into Tempestuous.
Tempestuous — 12x How to get: Windstruck + Twisted combined automatically. Notes: Tempestuous replaces both Windstruck and Twisted when it forms. Can be reapplied with Windstruck or Twisted individually after forming.
Sandy — 3x How to get: Sandstorm weather. Notes: Sandy + Wet creates Clay (5x). Useful primarily as a stepping stone in the Clay → Ceramic combined mutation chain.
Clay — 5x How to get: Sandy + Wet combined automatically. Notes: Clay replaces both Sandy and Wet when it forms. Clay + Burnt or Sundried or Meteoric creates Ceramic (32x).
Ceramic — 32x How to get: Clay combined with Burnt, Sundried, or Meteoric. Notes: One of the more complex combined mutations requiring a multi-step chain. Clay (from Sandy + Wet) combined with a heat mutation produces Ceramic. Worth pursuing deliberately when you have access to Sandy and Wet sprays or sprinklers and a heat mutation source.
Cracked — 4x How to get: Earthquake event, Mole pet passive occasionally.
Eclipsed — 20x How to get: Eclipse weather event. Notes: Eclipsed + Voidtouched creates Abyssal (240x). This is one of the most valuable natural weather combinations in the game. If your server has an Eclipse event and you also have a Space Squirrel pet (which applies Voidtouched), your crops can receive both mutations and fuse into Abyssal (240x).
Glimmering — 2x How to get: Fairy event, granted by fairies during the Fairy Event.
Snowy — 2x How to get: Snowfall weather.
Snowtouched — 5x How to get: Snowball Fight event.
Admin Event Mutations — The Highest Multiplier Tier
Admin mutations are triggered by Jandel and the development team during scheduled or surprise admin events. They are not available through standard weather RNG — you either need to be online when the admin event fires, have a pet that applies the mutation independently, or use a mutation spray.
Disco — 125x How to get: Disco admin event, Discobee pet (20% chance every 10 minutes), Disco Spray. Notes: Disco is the most commonly discussed admin mutation and for good reason — 125x on a high-weight exotic crop produces extraordinary Sheckle values. The Disco Bee pet makes Disco obtainable outside of admin events, which is why it is one of the most valuable pets in the game. During an actual Disco event, Disco Bee and environmental Disco can apply to different crops simultaneously.
Celestial — 120x How to get: Meteor Shower event, Star Caller gear. Notes: Celestial + Aurora = Cosmic (240x). Having a Star Caller in your gear inventory means you are never dependent on random Meteor Shower weather for a 120x mutation window.
Meteoric — 125x How to get: Meteor Strike event. Notes: Meteoric is distinct from Celestial — it is a Meteor Strike event rather than Meteor Shower. Meteoric + Blazing creates Infernal (180x). Meteoric also participates in the Ceramic mutation chain as one of the heat mutations that converts Clay into Ceramic.
Voidtouched — 135x How to get: Blackhole admin event, Space Squirrel pet. Notes: At 135x, Voidtouched is one of the highest single-mutation multipliers in the game. Combined with Eclipsed (20x) it creates Abyssal (240x). The Space Squirrel pet gives consistent access to Voidtouched outside of the Blackhole admin event — this is why Space Squirrel is considered one of the top tier pets for serious farmers.
Dawnbound — 150x How to get: Sun God Event, holding 4 Sunflowers during the event, Ascended Mutation pets. Notes: Currently the highest single mutation multiplier in the game at 150x. A Dawnbound crop at high weight on an exotic plant like Suncoil or Candy Blossom is among the most valuable items in the entire GAG economy. If you see a Dawnbound event announced in the Discord, prioritise being online and having your best crops growing.
Alienlike — 100x How to get: Alien admin event. Notes: Rare event, high multiplier. Same tier as Shocked at 100x but admin-only rather than available through natural weather.
Plasma — 5x How to get: Admin Laser Event.
Molten — 25x How to get: Admin Volcano Event. Notes: Molten participates in the Blazing combined mutation. Flaming + Molten = Blazing (52x).
Radioactive — 55x How to get: Carrot Rocket admin event. Notes: High multiplier for an event-specific mutation. Worth watching for Carrot Rocket events in the Discord.
Zombified — 25x How to get: Chicken Zombie pet passive, Zombie Admin event.
Corrupt — 20x How to get: Corrupt tree hourly reset, Corrupt pets. Notes: Corrupt and Tranquil exist as opposing mutations from the Zen Update content. Corrupt participates in the Chakra mutation chain through Kitsune pets.
Tranquil — 20x How to get: Zen Hourly Event, Tranquil pets.
Infected — 75x How to get: Zombie admin mutation. Notes: High multiplier that is distinct from Zombified. Infected at 75x makes Zombie admin events significantly more valuable than the Zombified multiplier alone suggests.
Brainrot — 100x How to get: Admin event mutation. Notes: Brainrot + Warped creates Mindbender (175x).
Warped — 75x How to get: Admin event mutation, Sugar Apple pet interaction. Notes: Warped + Brainrot creates Mindbender (175x).
Glitched — 85x How to get: Jhai Admin Event. Notes: Glitched + Plasma creates Fractured (92x).
Sliced — 50x How to get: Jandel Admin Event.
Beanbound — 100x How to get: Holding 4 Beanstalks during the Beanbound event. Notes: This is unique — it is one of the few admin event mutations that has a specific crop-based trigger condition. You must have 4 Beanstalk crops growing in your garden during the Beanbound event window for the mutation to apply.
Jackpot — 15x How to get: Travis Kelce admin event.
Subzero — 40x How to get: Travis Kelce admin event.
Blitzshock — 50x How to get: Travis Kelce admin event.
Touchdown — 105x How to get: Travis Kelce admin event. Notes: The highest multiplier from the Travis Kelce event set. At 105x it is close to Shocked in value and significantly higher than the other Travis Kelce mutations.
Pet-Applied Mutations
These mutations are applied by specific pets through their passive abilities rather than through weather or admin events.
Pollinated — 3x Applied by: Bee and Queen Bee pets.
HoneyGlazed — 5x Applied by: Honey Sprinkler gear, Bear Bee pet.
Verdant — 4x Applied by: Scarlet Macaw pet, Verdant Spray.
Bloom — 8x Applied by: Spray or pet passive (Sprite pet, Pet Shard).
Cloudtouched — 5x Applied by: Hyacinth Macaw pet, Cloudtouched Spray.
Burnt — 4x Applied by: Cooked Owl pet, Burnt Spray. Notes: Burnt participates in the Cooked combined mutation. Cooked removes Burnt when it forms.
Cooked — 10x Applied by: Cooked Owl pet. Notes: Cooked is a separate mutation from Burnt and replaces it.
Amber — 10x Applied by: Raptor pet, Amber Spray. Notes: Amber ages over time into Old Amber (20x) after 24 hours, then into Ancient Amber (50x) after 48 more hours. This is a unique time-based mutation system — the longer you hold an Amber-mutated crop without selling it, the more valuable it becomes. Ancient Amber at 50x makes a crop worth 5x more than when it first received the Amber mutation, purely through waiting.
Old Amber — 20x Applied by: Amber mutation aging after 24 hours.
Ancient Amber — 50x Applied by: Old Amber aging after 48 additional hours.
Static — 8x Applied by: Raiju pet passive. Notes: Static participates in the Stormcharged combined mutation. Shocked + Static + Tempestuous = Stormcharged (180x).
Gnomed — 15x Applied by: Gnome pet mutation.
Flaming — 25x Applied by: Phoenix pet. Notes: Flaming + Molten creates Blazing (52x).
Luminous — 50x Applied by: Sprite pet, Spray, Pet Shard.
Fortune — 50x Applied by: Golden Goose pet ability, spawns on Golden Egg. Notes: Fortune is unique because it appears on crops the Golden Goose creates itself — not just mutations applied to existing crops. The Golden Goose lays a golden egg crop with Fortune already on it every 13 minutes.
Rot — 8x Applied by: Mandrake pet mutation. Notes: Rot + Bloom creates Gloom (30x).
Sauce — 3x, Pasta — 3x, Meatball — 3x Applied by: Spaghetti Sloth pet. Notes: All three together create Spaghetti (15x).
Spaghetti — 15x Applied by: Sauce + Pasta + Meatball combined automatically.
Toxic — 15x Applied by: Cockatrice pet ability. Notes: Toxic + Acidic creates Corrosive (40x).
Cyclonic — 50x Applied by: Griffin pet mutation. Notes: Cyclonic + Tempestuous creates Maelstrom (100x).
Chakra — 15x Applied by: Kitsune pet ability. Notes: Chakra + CorruptChakra creates HarmonisedChakra (35x).
CorruptChakra — 15x Applied by: Corrupted Kitsune pet.
HarmonisedChakra — 35x Applied by: Chakra + CorruptChakra combined. Notes: HarmonisedChakra + HarmonisedFoxfireChakra creates AscendedChakra (230x).
FoxfireChakra — 90x Applied by: Very rare chance from Kitsune pet. Notes: This is one of the highest pet-applied multipliers in the game. The Kitsune is already the rarest pet, and FoxfireChakra is a rare proc from that already-rare pet.
CorruptFoxfireChakra — 90x Applied by: Very rare chance from Corrupted Kitsune.
HarmonisedFoxfireChakra — 190x Applied by: FoxfireChakra + CorruptFoxfireChakra combined. Notes: At 190x this is one of the highest mutation multipliers in the game from any source. Requires both a Kitsune and a Corrupted Kitsune in your lineup simultaneously.
AscendedChakra — 230x Applied by: HarmonisedFoxfire + HarmonisedChakra combined. Notes: This is the peak of the Kitsune mutation chain and one of the highest combined multipliers available. Requires an extremely complex chain of rare mutations from the two rarest pets in the game.
Acidic — 15x Applied by: Acid rain weather.
Oil — 15x Applied by: Flamingo Admin event, Oil rain.
Boil — 15x Applied by: Flamingo Admin event, Boil rain.
Junkshock — 45x Applied by: Flamingo Admin event.
Aromatic — 15x Applied by: Kitchen Storm event.

| Sunscorched | Mirage + Arid | 32x | Removes both |
| Coin | Sheckling pet + Coin Fruit | 3x | Specific interaction |
Stormbound at 270x is currently the highest combined mutation multiplier in the game. It requires Riptide (which itself requires Typhoon + Monsoon) combined with Stormcharged (which requires Shocked + Static + Tempestuous). Building toward Stormbound requires multiple mutation layers — but on a high-weight exotic crop, the result is one of the most valuable items in all of Grow a Garden.
Mutation Rules You Need to Know
Rule 1 — Crop variant mutations are exclusive Only one of Gold, Rainbow, or Silver can apply to a crop at a time. The calculator enforces this automatically.
Rule 2 — Combined mutations replace their sources When Frozen forms from Wet + Chilled, both Wet and Chilled are gone. When Stormcharged forms from Shocked + Static + Tempestuous, all three are gone. You cannot have both the source mutations and the combined mutation simultaneously.
Rule 3 — Some source mutations can be reapplied after combining After Frozen forms from Wet + Chilled, you can reapply Wet or Chilled individually but not both simultaneously. After Tempestuous forms, Windstruck or Twisted can be reapplied individually. This is relevant for complex mutation chain planning.
Rule 4 — Paradisal removes Verdant and Sundried Once Paradisal (100x) forms, it is no longer possible to have both Paradisal and Verdant or Sundried simultaneously on the same crop.
Rule 5 — Amber ages in real time Amber mutations progress through stages based on real time passing — not game time. Amber becomes Old Amber after 24 real hours and Ancient Amber after another 48 real hours. The crop must still be in your inventory uncollected — or the clock resets.
How to Use the Mutation System With the Calculator
The mutation guide above tells you what is possible. The calculator tells you what it is actually worth for your specific crop.
Checking a specific combination before farming for it: Open the Grow a Garden Calculator, select your target crop, apply the mutation combination you are aiming for, enter a realistic weight estimate, and see the projected value. This tells you whether the effort of building a specific mutation chain is worth it compared to simpler alternatives.
Verifying a mutated crop before selling: Enter the exact weight from your inventory, apply every mutation the fruit carries, and get the precise Sheckle value. Do this before selling any crop with more than one mutation — the stacking math produces values that are consistently surprising even for experienced players.
Checking a trade offer: Use Value to Weight mode. Enter the value someone has quoted for their crop, select the crop species, apply the mutations they claim, and see what weight their fruit needs to be to justify that price. If their claimed weight does not match, the trade is overpriced.

Frequently Asked Questions About Grow a Garden Mutations
What is the highest multiplier mutation in Grow a Garden? Stormbound at 270x is the highest combined mutation multiplier currently in the game. For single mutations, Dawnbound at 150x is the highest, followed by HarmonisedFoxfireChakra at 190x from the Kitsune pet chain.
Can mutations stack with each other? Yes — most mutations stack multiplicatively. Environmental mutations stack on top of crop variant mutations and on top of each other. Combined mutations replace their source mutations but produce higher multipliers than the sources would create individually.
How do I get the Shocked mutation reliably? Use a Lightning Rod from the Gear Shop. This triggers a Thunderstorm event on demand rather than waiting for random weather. Make sure your crops are actively growing (not fully ripe and waiting to be collected) when you trigger it.
Why did my Gold mutation disappear and become something else? This happens when a combined mutation that requires Gold as part of its chain is triggered, or when a Dragonfly applies Gold but the crop already has a fruit tier mutation. If a mutation seemingly disappeared, check whether a combined mutation formed in its place.
What is the difference between Shocked and Touchdown? Both are at approximately 100x multiplier (Shocked is exactly 100x, Touchdown is 105x). Shocked comes from thunder weather or Lightning Rod and is available to every player. Touchdown is from the Travis Kelce admin event and is less frequently available. They function identically in terms of stacking with other mutations.
Can I have Voidtouched and Eclipsed on the same crop? Yes — and you want to. Voidtouched (135x) + Eclipsed (20x) creates Abyssal (240x), one of the highest combined multipliers in the game. If your server has an Eclipse weather event and you have a Space Squirrel pet applying Voidtouched, watch for this combination actively.
What does the Amber mutation actually do over time? Amber (10x) ages into Old Amber (20x) after 24 real hours and then into Ancient Amber (50x) after a further 48 hours. The crop must remain in your inventory during this time. It is effectively a 5x multiplier increase over 72 hours of holding — worth it for high-base-value crops, less so for common plants where the wait is not justified by the return.
